Capture the light of Key West painting outdoors ‘en plein air’ with a medium you are comfortable with or try something new. using the six-color palette favored by the early impressionists, students will develop confidence in color properties such as hue, chroma, and intensity.

Select your favorite portable medium or experiment with something new. Join accomplished, as well as beginning artists in the challenge to quickly capture that perfect perspective and light of day. Join the class for a few outings or register for the full month.

Designed to build confidence and technique — for the beginner who wants to try the medium to the intermediate painter who wants to go further — Callahan’s engaging demonstrations each week will present fresh subject matter while lessoning the challenge the medium presents.

Visual analysis! Learn to draw from three dimensional still life arrangements in the studio and gain confidence with the basic fundamentals of two-dimensional art making: rendering line, shape, shadow, proportion, and perspective. This class is perfect for the beginner or those painters wanting to further develop drafting skills in order to enhance the quality of their work.

Working indoors with acrylic paint, Salem will provide new engaging demonstrations of various techniques. A fresh arrangement of color, form and light will greet seasoned students and first time painters each session for inspiration in composing and completing a painting in the medium of their choice.

Rooney is a nationally recognized teacher who makes instructional DVD’s for “Jerry’s Artarama”, and who travels the world teaching sold-out workshops. His easygoing, down-home personality and effortless teaching style is a joy to experience. Painters will be guided indoors from colorful still life arrangements and photographs.

Through demonstrations and lively discussion, students will be led through the exploration and challenges of a new medium each week; from introducing papier mâché during week one, to clay, then cement, and concluding week four with metal welding.

Over the three sessions — with plenty of conversation, laughter, and libations — you could complete a few small projects, while becoming a close knit group.
