The Studios of Key West welcomes New Folk legend John Gorka to the Historic Armory stage on February 12, for a one night only appearance by the noted singer-songwriter. Gorka makes his Key West debut and will be bringing carefully-crafted music from a 30 year career, including new songs from his latest CD, “So Dark You See.” Tickets are available for $25 at The Studios Of Key West office, or by clicking here.
“Our Old Town New Folk series just keeps getting better,” says director Eric Holowacz. “This year we’ve added a few locals, continued to entice national singer-songwriters, and refined the Armory as an intimate, warm performance space. John Gorka is next in line to charm the audience in our historic hall, and the island’s newest listening room.”
John Gorka has been part of the new folk movement since the late ’80s, slowly and steadily carving out his niche. His honest writing and ability to say it all with an economy of words has won him much praise and his fans’ devotion. Many well known artists have recorded and performed John Gorka songs, including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Nanci Griffith, Mary Black and Maura O’Connell. John has graced the stage of Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage, etown and has appeared on CNN.
Don’t miss the incredibly careful song-making of John Gorka, in his only Key West performance, February 12 at 8pm in the Historic Armory main hall. A limited number of tickets are also available to TSKW Friends and Patrons through the TSKW office. Call 296-0458 for details.
