For William Rhodes, art has always been about healing and bringing people together.
Working across sculpture, textiles, drawing, and furniture, Rhodes uses each medium to tell deeply human stories. During his time in Key West, that meant partnering with residents of Bahama Village to create a community quilt, inviting neighbors of all ages to stitch together family histories, memories, and personal connections into a shared work of art.
The finished quilt is only part of the story. Just as meaningful were the conversations that happened around it, elders sharing history with children, neighbors meeting neighbors, and a community seeing itself reflected in the creative process.
