Jennifer Golbeck: Spy Blimp

XOJ Gallery

Opens Thursday, January 7, 6-8pm

About the Exhibition

Hovering above the skyline off Cudjoe Key, the blimp known locally as Fat Albert has been a topic of rumor and speculation for decades. Goldbeck’s photo series highlights the tension between stunning skies and a lurking, quiet tool of government monitoring. Isolating the blimp recontextualizes it as evidence of modern surveillance’s ominous scale, and becomes an accidental love letter to the Keys’ showy Gulf Coast sunsets.
