Sumi-e: Expressive Ink Art with Masumi Sakagami
About the Class
Sumi-e is more than a technique—it’s a philosophy. Discover the centuries-old East Asian art of ink painting, where a few carefully considered brushstrokes can capture the essence of a subject. With an emphasis on line, gesture and simplicity, students will explore the expressive possibilities of black ink while developing greater awareness of movement and intention. Learn to embrace the beauty of each brushstroke—and the balance between control and spontaneity.
