About the Exhibition

A classically trained artist and longstanding instructor at The Studios, Speer presents his original courtroom drawings from the federal trial and sentencing of Ryan Wesley Routh, who was charged with attempting to assassinate then-presidential candidate Donald Trump at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, FL.

Commissioned by national television networks and drawn live in court, the works capture unfolding moments that cameras could not. His drawings offer an immediate visual record of gesture, expression and atmosphere, and a rare look at how an artist documents history as it happens.
