About the Class

What happens when you become both artist and subject? Explore identity, emotion and creativity through a playful approach to self-portraiture that goes beyond simply capturing a likeness. Using mixed media, quick sketches and unconventional techniques, students will experiment with new ways of representing themselves and create portraits that reflect more than appearance alone.

About the instructor:

Lucy Stevens is a self-taught Key West artist whose intuitive, expressive paintings find beauty, humor, and meaning in everyday life. Working in acrylics, oil pastels, pencils, collage, and unconventional materials, she draws inspiration from people, ordinary objects, Art Brut, petroglyphs, and the uninhibited creativity of children.
